Zephaniah 1 (vv. 14-18)

The climax of the chapter is the great day of the LORD, arriving swiftly as a day of wrath, darkness, trumpet blasts, and battle cries against fortified cities. People stagger like the blind, unable to find safety, while silver and gold lie powerless before the consuming fire of divine jealousy. The image should be vast and overwhelming, emphasizing darkness, alarm, and the collapse of every human defense without resorting to graphic violence.
