Zechariah 9 (vv. 1-4)

The prophecy opens with the LORD’s word resting heavily over the northern cities: Hadrak, Damascus, Hamath, Tyre, and Sidon. Tyre stands out as a wealthy maritime fortress, piled high with silver and gold, confident in its walls and sea power. Yet the scene turns as divine judgment approaches: the city’s riches are rendered powerless, its stronghold is doomed, and fire signals the collapse of human pride before the LORD.

예언은 하드락, 다메섹, 하맛, 두로, 시돈 같은 북방 성읍들 위에 무겁게 임하는 여호와의 말씀으로 시작된다. 그중 두로는 은과 금을 산더미처럼 쌓아 올리고 바다의 힘과 견고한 성벽을 의지하는 부유한 해상 요새로 두드러진다. 그러나 장면은 곧 반전된다. 하나님의 심판이 다가오며 그 도시의 재물은 무력해지고, 견고한 요새는 무너질 운명에 놓이며, 불길은 인간의 교만이 여호와 앞에서 무너짐을 알리는 표지가 된다.
