Song of Songs 8 (vv. 1-3)

The woman imagines a love so socially free and openly accepted that she could greet her beloved in public without shame, as if he were a brother raised in her mother’s household. She pictures leading him into her mother’s house, offering him spiced wine and the sweet juice of pomegranates, and resting in his embrace with tenderness and security.
