Ruth 1 (vv. 3-5)

In Moab, death slowly empties Naomi’s household. First Elimelek dies, then after her sons marry Orpah and Ruth and years pass, both Mahlon and Kilion also die. Naomi is left standing in profound grief, a woman stripped of husband and sons in a foreign land.

모압에서 죽음은 서서히 나오미의 집을 비워 간다. 먼저 엘리멜렉이 죽고, 두 아들이 오르바와 룻과 결혼한 뒤 여러 해가 지나 마흘론과 기룐도 모두 죽는다. 나오미는 남편과 두 아들을 모두 잃은 채 이방 땅에서 깊은 슬픔 속에 홀로 남겨진다.
