Revelation 9 (vv. 3-6)

From the smoke emerge supernatural locusts endowed with the power of scorpions. They are not sent to ravage vegetation, as ordinary locusts would, but to afflict only those people who lack the seal of God. Their torment is intense and prolonged for five months, bringing such anguish that people long for death, yet death does not come. The scene emphasizes selective judgment, spiritual distinction, and unbearable despair.

연기 가운데서 전갈 같은 권세를 받은 초자연적인 황충들이 나온다. 이들은 보통 황충처럼 풀이나 나무를 해치지 않고, 하나님의 인이 없는 사람들만 괴롭히도록 명령받는다. 그 고통은 다섯 달 동안 계속되며 너무도 극심하여 사람들이 죽기를 바라지만 죽음조차 그들을 피한다. 이 장면은 선택적인 심판과 영적 구별, 그리고 견디기 힘든 절망을 강조한다.
