Revelation 21 (vv. 15-27)

The angel measures the city, revealing its perfect proportions and immense scale. John sees walls of jasper, streets of transparent gold, foundations adorned with precious stones, and gates made from single pearls. There is no temple, sun, or moon, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple and light; the nations walk by that glory, the gates never close, and only those written in the Lamb's book of life may enter. The scene should present the city as the climax of holiness, beauty, and eternal communion.

천사는 성의 완전한 비율과 거대한 규모를 드러내기 위해 그 성을 측량한다. 요한은 벽옥 성벽과 투명한 금 거리, 각종 보석으로 장식된 기초석들, 그리고 하나의 진주로 된 성문들을 본다. 그 성에는 성전도, 해도, 달도 필요 없는데, 이는 주 하나님과 어린양이 그 성의 성전이며 빛이기 때문이다. 민족들이 그 빛 가운데 걸어 다니고, 성문은 결코 닫히지 않으며, 오직 어린양의 생명책에 기록된 자들만 들어간다. 이 장면은 거룩함과 아름다움, 영원한 교제의 절정을 보여 주어야 한다.
