Description
The second beast performs astonishing signs, even calling fire down from heaven before the watching crowds. Through these wonders it deceives the inhabitants of the earth and commands them to construct an image in honor of the first beast. Then the image is given breath so that it seems to live and speak, becoming an instrument of terror against all who refuse to worship. The scene is one of spectacle, counterfeit miracle, and coercive idolatry.
