Revelation 11 (vv. 1-2)

John is given a reed like a measuring rod and commanded to measure the temple of God, the altar, and the worshipers within. The inner sacred space is set apart, while the outer court is excluded because it has been handed over to the Gentiles, who will trample the holy city for forty-two months. The scene contrasts holiness, order, and divine ownership with looming desecration outside.

요한은 갈대 같은 측량 막대를 받고 하나님의 성전과 제단과 그 안에서 예배하는 자들을 측량하라는 명령을 받는다. 거룩한 내부 공간은 구별되지만, 바깥 뜰은 이방인들에게 넘겨졌기에 측량에서 제외된다. 그들은 마흔두 달 동안 거룩한 성을 짓밟을 것이다. 이 장면은 안쪽의 거룩함과 질서, 하나님의 소유를 바깥의 모독과 위협과 대조하여 보여 준다.
