Psalm 98 (vv. 1-3)

The psalm opens with a call to sing a new song because the LORD has done marvelous things. His saving power is portrayed not by a visible face, but through the symbolic strength of his right hand and holy arm, expressed as radiant divine light breaking into the world. Israel stands as witness to God's remembered love and faithfulness, while distant peoples and travelers from many lands look on, showing that his salvation has been revealed to the nations and seen to the ends of the earth.

시편은 여호와께서 놀라운 일을 행하셨기에 새 노래를 부르라는 부름으로 시작된다. 하나님의 구원하시는 능력은 얼굴로 직접 묘사되지 않고, 세상에 비쳐 들어오는 찬란한 신적 빛으로 상징되는 그의 오른손과 거룩한 팔의 능력으로 표현된다. 이스라엘은 하나님께서 기억하신 사랑과 성실하심의 증인이 되어 서 있고, 여러 나라에서 온 먼 이방 민족들과 여행자들이 이를 바라보며 그의 구원이 열방에 드러나고 땅끝까지 알려졌음을 보여 준다.
