Psalm 85 (vv. 1-3)

The opening scene recalls a time when the Lord showed favor to the land and restored the fortunes of Jacob. The people stand in a once-barren countryside now turning fertile again, with signs of return, forgiveness, and anger withdrawn. The mood is not triumphal warfare but relieved gratitude: the nation senses that guilt has been covered and divine wrath has passed, like a storm moving off the hills.

첫 장면은 주께서 그 땅에 은혜를 베푸시고 야곱의 형편을 회복시키신 때를 회상한다. 한때 황폐했던 들판은 다시 비옥해지고, 백성은 돌아옴과 용서와 진노의 거두심을 보여 주는 풍경 속에 서 있다. 분위기는 전쟁의 승리가 아니라 안도와 감사이다. 백성은 죄가 덮였고 하나님의 진노가 산등성이 너머로 물러간 폭풍처럼 지나갔음을 느낀다.
