Psalm 49 (vv. 14)

In one of the psalm’s most striking images, the self-trusting rich are portrayed as sheep being led by death itself. A dark valley opens toward the grave, and the flock moves helplessly away from princely houses into decay, while far off a hint of morning suggests that the upright will prevail. The scene is symbolic rather than graphic, emphasizing inevitability, loss, and moral reversal.
