Psalm 44 (vv. 1-3)

Foreign nations are driven out, while Israel is planted and allowed to flourish in the land. The victory is not shown as the triumph of human weapons, but as the work of God's powerful hand and the favor symbolized by radiant divine light.

시편은 공동체의 기억으로 시작된다. 백성은 조상들이 전해 준 옛날 하나님의 크신 행적을 기억한다. 이방 민족들은 쫓겨나고, 이스라엘은 그 땅에 심겨져 번성하게 된다. 이 승리는 인간의 무기 때문이 아니라, 하나님의 강한 손과 빛나는 은총의 임재로 이루어진 일로 묘사된다.
