Psalm 37 (vv. 1-4)

A faithful person stands at the edge of a field, resisting envy as the apparent vitality of green grass begins to fade under the sun. In contrast to the temporary flourishing of evil, the righteous person turns away from anxiety and fixes the heart on the LORD, dwelling securely in the land like a shepherd resting near safe pasture. The scene captures the psalm’s opening contrast between what quickly withers and what endures through trust and delight in God.

한 신실한 사람이 들판 가장자리에 서서, 햇빛 아래 무성한 풀들이 점차 시들어 가는 모습을 바라보며 악인의 번영을 부러워하지 않으려 애쓴다. 잠시 번성하는 악과 달리, 의인은 불안에서 돌아서서 마음을 여호와께 두고 안전한 초장 곁에서 쉼을 누리는 목자처럼 그 땅에 평안히 거한다. 이 장면은 곧 사라질 것과 하나님을 신뢰하고 기뻐함으로 지속되는 것을 대비하는 시편의 서두를 담아낸다.
