Psalm 2 (vv. 8-9)

The fourth scene expands the vision from Zion to the whole world. The anointed king stands as a representative ruler beneath the heavens, while distant lands, coastlines, deserts, mountains, and far cities stretch toward the horizon, symbolizing the nations as his inheritance. In his hand is a rod of iron, not used in graphic violence, but held as a symbol of unbreakable authority and righteous judgment. Near the foreground, a clay vessel lies shattered on stone, visually echoing the psalm’s warning that opposition to this reign is as fragile as pottery before iron strength.

네 번째 장면은 시온에서 온 세상으로 시야를 넓힌다. 기름 부음 받은 왕은 하늘 아래 대표적 통치자로 서 있고, 먼 땅과 해안선, 사막, 산지, 그리고 멀리 있는 성읍들이 지평선까지 펼쳐져 민족들이 그의 유업이 됨을 상징한다. 그의 손에는 철장이 들려 있지만, 그것은 잔혹한 폭력을 위한 것이 아니라 깨뜨릴 수 없는 권위와 의로운 심판의 상징으로 표현된다. 앞쪽에는 깨진 토기 하나가 돌 위에 놓여 있어, 이 통치에 맞서는 자들이 철의 권세 앞에서 질그릇처럼 연약하다는 시편의 경고를 시각적으로 보여 준다.
