Psalm 124 (vv. 7-8)

In the final image, Israel is like a bird escaping from a trap after the snare has been broken. The psalm closes by lifting the eyes beyond the trap itself to the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth, as the true source of help. The scene should combine intimate deliverance with cosmic assurance: a fragile creature freed, beneath the vast world created by God.
