Psalm 124 (vv. 1-2)

The psalm opens with a public confession from Israel: if the LORD had not stood with them when hostile people rose up, they would have had no hope. The scene should show a gathered covenant community facing danger, yet preserved because a divine presence stands with them. The emphasis is not on battle itself but on the contrast between vulnerable human weakness and the unseen protection of God.
