Psalm 12 (vv. 5)

At the center of the psalm, the Lord answers the cries of the poor and needy. The scene shows vulnerable people bent under hardship—an exhausted widow, a weary laborer, a hungry child—while a radiant sign of divine presence breaks into their darkness. God is not depicted directly; instead, a shaft of holy light or a luminous cloud descends as a visual declaration that he has arisen to defend those who groan under oppression.
