Psalm 109 (vv. 1-5)

David stands isolated while hostile men crowd around him, pointing fingers and speaking accusations. Though he had offered friendship, he is repaid with hatred and deceit. In contrast to the noise of his enemies, he is shown in prayerful restraint, lifting his heart toward God while slander closes in from every side.
