Psalm 101 (vv. 3-4)

At the entrance to his house, David turns away from corrupt influences and refuses to let vile or perverse things enter his sight or his domain. The image is symbolic rather than literal: objects associated with falsehood and moral corruption lie outside the threshold in shadow, while David remains inside the light, resolute and undefiled. The scene dramatizes moral separation, showing that evil is not merely punished later but denied entry from the beginning.
