Proverbs 28 (vv. 10, 18)

A deceitful man secretly prepares a pit trap along a narrow path, hoping to lure the upright into ruin. Yet the visual tension turns as the blameless traveler, walking carefully and upright with a staff, notices the danger and remains safe, while the schemer loses footing near his own hidden snare. The landscape itself becomes moral symbolism: one path is firm and elevated, the other broken and treacherous. The image dramatizes the proverb that those who lead others into evil are caught by their own schemes, while the blameless are preserved.

한 속이는 사람이 좁은 길가에 몰래 함정 구덩이를 파서 정직한 자를 멸망으로 이끌려 한다. 그러나 긴장은 반전된다. 지팡이를 짚고 바르게 걷는 흠 없는 나그네는 위험을 알아차리고 안전하게 지나가지만, 음모를 꾸민 자는 자신이 숨겨 둔 덫 가까이에서 발을 헛디딘다. 풍경 자체가 도덕적 상징이 된다. 한 길은 단단하고 높게 이어지고, 다른 길은 무너지고 위험하다. 이 장면은 다른 사람을 악으로 이끄는 자가 자기 꾀에 빠지고, 흠 없는 자는 보호받는다는 잠언의 뜻을 극적으로 보여 준다.
