Proverbs 28 (vv. 13-14)

새벽의 조용한 뜰에서 한 사람이 겸손히 무릎을 꿇고 머리를 숙인 채 손을 펴 들고 있으며, 더 이상 죄를 숨기지 않는다. 그 곁에는 벗어 놓은 겉옷과 감추었던 주머니가 놓여 있어 버린 죄를 상징한다. 하나님을 직접 묘사하지 않으면서도 위에서 내려오는 부드러운 하늘빛이 회개하는 인물을 비추어 자비가 임했음을 암시한다. 배경에는 또 다른 인물이 그림자 속에서 몸을 굳게 한 채 등을 돌리고 서 있어 완고한 마음의 위험을 보여 준다. 이 장면은 고백이 긍휼로 나아가는 길을 열고, 완고함은 환난으로 이끈다는 사실을 강조한다.
