Proverbs 27 (vv. 5-6)

Two contrasting relationships are shown in one image. On one side, a true friend speaks honest correction face to face, his expression earnest and compassionate even though his words sting. On the other side, a deceptive enemy leans in with exaggerated affection, offering flattering kisses while hiding harmful intent behind smiling eyes. The scene reveals that open rebuke rooted in love is better than concealed affection, and that painful truth from a friend is more trustworthy than sweet gestures from an enemy.
