Proverbs 26 (vv. 4-12)

A village square becomes a theater of foolishness. At the center, a loud fool gestures arrogantly while trying to deliver a proverb he does not understand, his words as dangerous as a thorn branch in the hand of a drunkard. A messenger in the background stumbles while carrying a sealed message entrusted to an unreliable man, suggesting the harm of using a fool as an agent. Off to one side, a dog returns to what should have been left behind, symbolizing the repeated cycle of folly, while the fool’s proud face shows that he is wise in his own eyes.

마을 광장은 어리석음의 무대가 된다. 한가운데서 떠들썩한 어리석은 자가 거만하게 손짓하며 자신도 이해하지 못하는 잠언을 말하려 하고, 그의 말은 술 취한 자의 손에 든 가시덤불처럼 위험하다. 뒤편에서는 신뢰할 수 없는 자에게 맡겨진 봉인된 메시지를 들고 가던 전령이 비틀거리며 넘어질 듯한 모습으로, 어리석은 자를 심부름꾼으로 쓰는 해로움을 암시한다. 한쪽에는 개가 버려졌어야 할 것으로 다시 돌아가고 있어 어리석음의 반복을 상징하며, 그 어리석은 자의 자만한 얼굴은 스스로를 지혜롭다고 여기는 모습을 드러낸다.
