Proverbs 24 (vv. 15-18)

The righteous may fall repeatedly, yet they rise again, while the wicked seek to exploit weakness and others are warned not to gloat over an enemy’s downfall. The scene shows a weary righteous traveler who has stumbled on a rocky path rising to his feet again, while in the distance a lurking wrongdoer watches from the shadows and another observer restrains a smug reaction, all under a solemn sky that suggests divine moral scrutiny.

의인은 여러 번 넘어질 수 있으나 다시 일어나며, 악인은 그 약함을 이용하려 하고, 다른 이들은 원수의 넘어짐을 보고 기뻐하지 말라는 경고를 받는다. 이 장면은 바위 많은 길에서 넘어진 뒤 다시 일어서는 지친 의로운 나그네를 보여 주고, 멀리 그림자 속에서는 숨어 엿보는 악인이 있으며, 또 다른 관찰자는 비웃는 마음을 억누르고 있다. 엄숙한 하늘은 하나님의 도덕적 감찰을 암시한다.
