Beyond the domestic sorrow, the sky opens over the distant hills with a quiet, steady light, reminding the viewer that though human hearts devise many plans, it is the LORD’s purpose that finally stands.

소박한 집 안에서 게으른 사람이 그릇에 손을 넣은 채 꾸벅꾸벅 졸고 있으며, 입으로 음식을 가져갈 의지조차 없어 보인다. 그와 대조적으로, 수치를 안기는 아들이 슬퍼하는 부모를 집 밖으로 몰아내고, 문가에는 버려진 두루마리가 놓여 있어 훈계를 무시했음을 상징한다. 그러나 이 가정의 비극 너머 먼 언덕 위 하늘에는 조용하고 흔들림 없는 빛이 비추어, 사람의 마음에 많은 계획이 있을지라도 결국 서는 것은 여호와의 뜻임을 일깨운다.
