Numbers 29 (vv. 35-40)

On the eighth day, the festival concludes with a special closing assembly in which no regular work is done. After the abundance of the previous days, the offerings become simple again: one bull, one ram, seven lambs, and one male goat, alongside the regular offerings and the people’s vowed and freewill gifts. Moses communicates all these commands to Israel, bringing the chapter to a close in obedience and clarity. The scene should feel both final and peaceful, with the community gathered one last time before the sanctuary under the fading light of a completed holy season.

여덟째 날, 절기는 어떤 일도 하지 않는 특별한 폐회 성회로 마무리된다. 앞선 날들의 풍성함 이후에 제물은 다시 단순해져서 수소 한 마리와 숫양 한 마리와 어린양 일곱 마리와 숫염소 한 마리가 드려지고, 정규 제사와 백성의 서원 제물과 자원 제물도 더해진다. 모세는 이 모든 명령을 이스라엘에게 전하며 장은 순종과 분명함 속에서 끝난다. 이 장면은 거룩한 절기가 완성된 뒤, 저물어 가는 빛 아래 성막 앞에 마지막으로 모인 공동체의 평온하고 마무리되는 느낌을 담아야 한다.
