Numbers 28 (vv. 11-15)

The beginning of the month is marked by a larger communal offering: two young bulls, one ram, seven male lambs, and a male goat for sin offering, accompanied by measured grain and drink offerings. The scene should capture the scale and precision of worship, with priests and attendants carefully arranging animals and vessels before the altar. Above them, the pale crescent of the new moon signals sacred time and the renewal of Israel’s covenant rhythm.

매달 초하루는 더 큰 공동체적 제사로 구별된다. 어린 수소 두 마리, 숫양 한 마리, 일 년 된 숫양 일곱 마리, 그리고 속죄제물인 숫염소 한 마리가 정해진 소제와 전제와 함께 드려진다. 이 장면은 제사장들과 보조자들이 제단 앞에서 제물과 그릇들을 세심하게 배열하는 모습을 통해 예배의 규모와 정확성을 담아내야 한다. 그들 위로 희미한 초승달이 떠 있어 거룩한 시간과 이스라엘 언약의 새로워지는 리듬을 보여 준다.
