Description
The LORD tells Moses to ascend a mountain in the Abarim Range and look upon the land given to Israel, while also revealing that his own journey is nearing its end. From this height, Moses faces both fulfillment and loss: he can see the promise, but he will not enter it. In response, he prays not for himself but for the people, asking God to appoint a leader so the community will not be like sheep without a shepherd.
