Description
Balak sends a second embassy, more numerous and more honorable than the first, promising rich reward if Balaam will come. Balaam insists he cannot go beyond the word of the LORD, yet after the night’s instruction he rises in the morning, saddles his donkey, and sets out with the Moabite officials. The moment is charged with ambiguity, obedience mixed with dangerous desire.
