Description
At Mount Hor, near the border of Edom, the LORD announces that Aaron will die there because of the rebellion at Meribah. In view of the whole community, Moses leads Aaron and Eleazar up the mountain. At the summit, Aaron’s priestly garments are removed and placed on Eleazar, signifying the transfer of sacred office; then Aaron dies, and the people below mourn for him for thirty days.
