Description
Despite Moses’ warning that the LORD is not with them, a group of Israelites rises early and climbs toward the hill country in self-willed determination. Behind them, Moses and the ark remain in the camp, a silent sign that God’s presence has not gone with them. From the heights, the Amalekites and Canaanites descend and drive them back. The scene captures tragic presumption: zeal without obedience, movement without blessing, and defeat born from delayed repentance.
