Nehemiah 8 (vv. 1-3)

All the people gather together in unity in the square before the Water Gate and ask Ezra to bring out the Book of the Law of Moses. On the first day of the seventh month, Ezra the priest presents the Law before men, women, and all who can understand, and begins reading from daybreak until noon. The crowd listens with deep attention, filling the public square with a sense of expectancy, reverence, and communal hunger for God's word.

모든 백성이 수문 앞 광장에 한마음으로 모여 에스라에게 모세의 율법책을 가져오라고 요청한다. 일곱째 달 첫날, 제사장 에스라는 남자와 여자와 알아들을 수 있는 모든 사람 앞에 율법을 가져와 새벽부터 정오까지 낭독한다. 군중은 깊은 집중으로 말씀을 듣고 있으며, 광장 전체는 기대감과 경외심, 그리고 하나님의 말씀을 향한 공동체적 갈망으로 가득 차 있다.
