Nehemiah 13 (vv. 15-22)

Nehemiah witnesses people treading winepresses, loading donkeys, and merchants from Tyre selling fish and goods in Jerusalem on the Sabbath. In response, he rebukes the nobles and orders the city gates shut before the Sabbath begins. As evening shadows fall, his men stand guard at the gates while merchants linger outside the walls with their wares, creating a powerful image of holy boundaries being restored against economic pressure and habitual compromise.
