Nehemiah 13 (vv. 1-3)

In a public assembly, the Book of Moses is read aloud before the people of Jerusalem. The listeners stand in solemn attention as they hear the command that Ammonites and Moabites are not to be admitted into the assembly because of their past hostility toward Israel. The moment is charged with conviction and communal response, as the people act on what they have heard and separate from foreign influence in order to renew covenant holiness.
