Nahum 2 (vv. 9-13)

The conquerors seize Nineveh’s endless silver and gold, while the city is left pillaged, trembling, and pale with fear. Nahum then turns to the image of Assyria as a lion’s den once filled with prey and confidence, but now emptied under the LORD’s opposition. The final word is total reversal: chariots consumed in smoke, young lions devoured by the sword, and the proud voice of the empire silenced.
