Nahum 2 (vv. 5-6)

Nineveh calls up her elite troops, but even they falter in confusion as they rush to defend the walls. Then the decisive breach comes: the river gates are opened, and the palace collapses. The city’s pride is undone not only by human assault but by a catastrophic unraveling of its defenses.

니느웨는 정예 병사들을 불러 모으지만, 그들조차 성벽을 지키러 달려가다 비틀거리며 혼란에 빠진다. 그리고 결정적인 돌파가 일어난다. 강의 성문이 열리고 궁전이 무너진다. 이 도성의 교만은 인간의 공격뿐 아니라 방어 체계 전체가 무너지는 재앙 속에서 허물어진다.
