Micah 7 (vv. 1-2)

The prophet stands in a harvested vineyard at the end of summer, searching in vain for a single cluster of grapes or an early fig. The emptiness of the field becomes a visual metaphor for the disappearance of the faithful from the land. Around him, the landscape feels abandoned and tense, suggesting a society where upright people are gone and people prey upon one another.
