Matthew 9 (vv. 1-8)

In Jesus' own town, several men bring a paralyzed man lying on a mat before him. Jesus first declares the man's sins forgiven, provoking silent outrage among the teachers of the law, then publicly commands the man to rise, take his mat, and go home. The healed man stands before the astonished crowd, transforming skepticism into awe and praise.
