Description
On the far side of the lake, in a desolate region marked by tombs, two violent demon-possessed men confront Jesus. They recognize him as the Son of God and fear the appointed time of judgment. At Jesus’ command, the demons leave and enter a nearby herd of pigs, which rushes down the steep bank into the water. The swineherds flee to the town, and the whole community comes out, not in worship but in fear, pleading with Jesus to leave. The scene is charged with spiritual confrontation, liberation, and the unsettling cost of divine power entering human territory.
