Description
After a long time the master returns to settle accounts. The first two servants come forward joyfully, presenting doubled wealth and receiving praise and welcome into their master’s joy. Then the third servant appears with the buried money, speaking from fear and accusation rather than faithfulness. The master judges him, takes away what he failed to use, and casts him into outer darkness. The scene contrasts celebration and loss, reward and exclusion.
