Description
After silencing the Sadducees, Jesus is challenged again by a legal expert asking which commandment is greatest. Jesus answers by joining love for God with all one's heart, soul, and mind to love for neighbor as oneself, declaring that all the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commands. He then turns the question back on the Pharisees regarding the Messiah as David's son and David's Lord. The teachers of the law fall silent, unable to answer him, and the confrontation ends with Jesus standing in unshaken authority.
