Description
The Pharisees and Herodians approach Jesus with a calculated question about paying the imperial tax to Caesar. Knowing their malice, Jesus asks for a denarius and points to the image and inscription on the coin. With calm authority, he answers, 'Give back to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's.' The trap collapses, and his challengers are left astonished by his wisdom.
