Matthew 12 (vv. 1-8)

Jesus walks with his disciples through grainfields on the Sabbath as the hungry disciples pluck heads of grain and eat. Nearby, Pharisees confront Jesus with stern expressions, accusing the disciples of unlawful behavior. Jesus responds calmly yet authoritatively, teaching that mercy is greater than ritual sacrifice and declaring that the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.

예수께서 안식일에 제자들과 함께 밀밭 사이를 지나가실 때, 배고픈 제자들은 이삭을 잘라 먹기 시작한다. 곁에서 이를 본 바리새인들은 엄한 표정으로 다가와 제자들이 율법을 어기고 있다고 비난한다. 그러나 예수께서는 차분하면서도 권위 있게 대답하시며, 제사보다 긍휼이 더 중요하다고 가르치시고 인자가 안식일의 주인이라고 선언하신다.
