Mark 14 (vv. 3-9)

While Jesus reclines at the table in the house of Simon the Leper in Bethany, a woman enters carrying an alabaster jar filled with costly pure nard. She breaks the jar and pours the perfume over Jesus’s head in a bold act of devotion. Some at the table react with indignation, seeing only waste, but Jesus defends her and declares that she has prepared his body beforehand for burial and that her act will be remembered wherever the gospel is preached.

예수께서 베다니 나병환자 시몬의 집에서 식탁에 기대어 계실 때, 한 여인이 매우 값비싼 순전한 나드 향유가 든 옥합을 가지고 들어온다. 그녀는 옥합을 깨뜨려 예수의 머리에 향유를 붓는 담대한 헌신의 행동을 한다. 식탁에 있던 몇몇 사람들은 이것을 낭비로 여기며 분개하지만, 예수께서는 그녀를 두둔하시며 그녀가 자신의 장례를 미리 준비한 것이라고 말씀하시고, 이 일이 복음이 전파되는 곳마다 기억될 것이라고 선언하신다.
