설명
베다니에서 나오는 길에 예수께서는 잎이 무성한 무화과나무를 보시고 열매가 있을까 하여 가까이 가신다. 그러나 그곳에는 겉모습만 있을 뿐 실제 열매는 없다. 예수께서는 그 나무를 향해 엄숙한 심판의 말씀을 하시고 제자들은 그 말씀을 듣는다. 이 장면은 살아 있는 비유처럼 보인다. 겉으로는 무성하고 좋아 보여도 하나님 앞에서는 열매 없는 상태일 수 있음을 드러낸다.
