Description
After John’s imprisonment, Jesus begins proclaiming the nearness of God’s kingdom in Galilee. Walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he calls Simon and Andrew from their fishing work, then James and John from their boat with their father Zebedee. At once they leave nets, boat, and livelihood to follow him, signaling the beginning of a new community gathered around Jesus.
