Luke 9 (vv. 1-6)

Jesus gathers the Twelve and commissions them with power and authority over demons and disease. He instructs them to travel lightly, carrying no extra provisions, and to depend on hospitality as they go from village to village proclaiming the kingdom of God and healing the sick. The scene captures both the solemn authority of Jesus and the humble vulnerability of the disciples at the beginning of their mission.
