While the disciples are gathered indoors discussing the startling reports, Jesus suddenly stands among them and speaks peace. They recoil in fear, thinking they see a spirit, but he invites them to look at his hands and feet and even eats broiled fish before them. He then opens their minds to understand the Scriptures and commissions them as witnesses, promising power from on high.
