Description
As evening falls, the two disciples urge the traveler to stay with them. At the table, he takes bread, gives thanks, breaks it, and offers it to them. In that familiar act their eyes are opened and they recognize Jesus, but at the very moment of recognition he vanishes from their sight, leaving them overwhelmed and inwardly aflame.
