Description
Herod is pleased to see Jesus, hoping to witness a miracle, and questions him at length. Jesus remains silent while the chief priests continue their fierce accusations. Frustrated and amused, Herod and his soldiers mock Jesus, dress him in an elegant robe as a parody of kingship, and send him back to Pilate. The scene reveals both the humiliation of Jesus and the blindness of rulers who cannot recognize true authority.
